Missional People Live in the Now

As we thrive to live a “missional life,”one of the realities we fight in our culture is speed. We all have something to do, somewhere to go, emails that need replies, to-do lists that must get knocked out, kids that need to be driven somewhere, events that must be attended, oh ya, and work that must be done!

The list can go on and on.

The ethos of living on mission means our lives will be different. We act different, think different, use our time, talents and treasures different than our current culture.  Because we have a different set of vales and priorities.

Part of living differently is learning “the power of now.”  If you’re going to make a difference, you have to do it now, today!

Yesterday is gone, it’s over and it’s not coming back, yesterday is now locked away in the history of time.  So learn and move forward.

Tomorrow is not promised at all.  Everything can change by tomorrow.  Plan and prepare like tomorrow will arrive, in case it does – just don’t take it for granted – it’s not guaranteed.  You can’t make a difference tomorrow, you have today!

Because we’re living in this moment, alive, active, moving and breathing and we have this time to do something. Today is a gift, your mission is to steward this gift well, and honor God in these moments of opportunity.

So take action today…live in the now, allow God to use you, make that important decision to follow God’s call, love on that neighbor, sponsor that child, call a friend and offer encouragement, book those tickets to go on mission, seek forgiveness to those you hurt, forgive and let go of those who hurt you.

What is God calling you to do? Start doing that right now!
